Wow! What a lovely weekend! It’s really been lovely, weather-wise. It’s been in the upper 50’s, which is really perfectly comfortable if it’s sunny, which it has been, and if you’re wearing a sweater, which I have been. Thursday was quite nice as well, but a bit chillier I think. I got cold, anyway, walking around London for my history class. That was probably because we were mostly in the shade and it was getting close to sunset. Yesterday Paula (from the UMD program) and I were walking along the River, and it was a perfect day. All the performers were out: there were dancers and musicians and lots of living statues (they’re lots of fun!).
So, anyway, here are pictures that my Mom asked for. These are the shoes that she bought me in Paris because my shoes were do hideous things to my feet. My little toes felt like they had been deeply bruised, and they were totally inflamed and painful even when I took my shoes off. They’re very cute, of course, but also very flat so I’ve barely worn them.

These are pictures from going to Westminster and sitting in on Parliament. It was a boring day, because apparently they don’t actually do much on Fridays. Oh well, I can go back another time; it’s free, you just have to go through some very thorough security. On the way out, there was some kind of dignitary from an African country in the entrance hall.

These are some of the performers along the banks of the River Thames. Very fun.

And then, today, just before I came to the library here, I went to St Paul’s Cathedral. St Paul’s is an amazing building, very beautiful and impressive. Unfortunately, you can’t take pictures inside, but it’s very nice. There’s a chapel to US troops who lost their lives during WWII. That whole us-saving-Europe’s-ass thing kind of brought us closer to the Brits I think. In any case, I went ALL the way up to the tippytop of the cathedral, up some 434 steps and 85 meters (approximately equal to a yard or 3 feet) to the Golden Gallery. Amazingly, I wasn’t really out of breath too much, and my legs are a little tired but not aching. These are some of the AMAZING views.
